No action needed. Executive Summary/Discussion The board will receive an overview of Carlsbad Reads Together 2022. The Carlsbad City Library is pleased to present a month of programming based around The Personal Librarian and an evening with the authors. An Evening with Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray April 28, 7 p.m. - Registration is required for this Zoom event. Create-your-own-card game kit Be inspired by the book, Slay, and card games Naruto and Pokémon to design a card game with this comprehensive kit for pick up at any library location. Youth and Family Events: Read and discuss Planting Stories: The Life of Librarian and Storyteller of Pura Belpré by Anika Denise. •All Star Readers: Wednesday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m. •Book Explorers: Thursday, April 14 at 3:30 p.m. Puppet Craft: Puppets were an important part of how Pura Belpré told her stories. Children are invited to pick up a puppet kit from any of our three locations and create a puppet to help tell their own stories. Exploration HUB Classes Join us in the Exploration HUB, the library's technology lab, for a class inspired by The Personal Librarian or SLAY. Classes are for patrons ages 13 and older. Morgan and his library I I Reimagined: The Artist's Book Feb. 26 -May 14, 2022 What happens when the worlds of art and books intersect? The objects in this exhibition interpret the concept of the book, exploring altering book structures into sculpture or sculptural objects whose only reference to book-ness might be the inclusion of words. The creative force of the featured artists is demonstrated by their ingenuity in reimagining book forms, decorating in new ways and using unconventional materials.
