Recommended Action
Receive an update from staff on the FY 2022-23 budget.
Executive Summary/Discussion
At their meeting on June 14, 2022, City Council approved the fiscal year 2022-2023 budget. The
Library Board’s letter to City Council supporting staff’s budget recommendations was attached
as an exhibit to the report. Elimination of late fines for overdue library materials was approved
as part of the FY 2022-23 Master Fee Schedule.
Next Steps
Staff will make the necessary changes to the integrated library system, financial process and
communications in order to operationalize the elimination of late fines.
Fiscal Analysis
Library revenue will decrease resulting from the elimination of late fines for overdue library
materials. The estimated revenue lost, from a five-year average revenue minus the cost of
collecting fines is $62,110.

Public notice of this item was posted in keeping with the Ralph M. Brown Act and was available
for public viewing and review at least 72 hours before the scheduled meeting date.
