INTRODUCTION
Purpose
The purpose of this report is to provide a study for the off-site
improvements for the Pavilion @ La Costa located within the City of
Carlsbad in San Diego County.
Methodology
This report draws upon the existing drainage study titled "Green Valley
Crossing Volumes I & II". Minor modifications to the existing study are
indicated within this report.
Discussion
As a result of this project the existing Calle Barcelona will be widened
along the northerly boundary. This will require the lengthening of storm
drain "EE" and the addition of a curb inlet at the proposed new entry at
approximately 25+50. The curb inlet for storm drain "EE" will be revised to
accommodate the entry at the NE'ly corner of the project. The following is
a prorating of the flow rate to storm drain "EE" to determine the new flow
rates to the new inlet and the revised "EE" inlet.
Line Area (AC) Flow Rate (cfs) Main Line Adj.
Existing "EE" 0.77 7.89 7.5
Revised "EE" 0.31 3.19 3.0
New Inlet 0.46 4.70 4.5
These flow rates were used to determine the new and revised inlet sizing
and to create revised hydraulic caics. The Main line adjustment is the
difference between the upstream and downstream flow rate at the
junctions.
II. CATCH BASIN CALCULATIONS
The catch basin calculations have been prepared utilizing the "Design and
Construction of Public Works Improvements" guidelines. The catch basin
calculations are contained in this section of the report.
III. HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS
The hydraulic control for the proposed storm drain 'connections was obtained
from the existing report for the storm drain in Calle Barôelona. The HGL of 75.5
feet is equal to the spillway of the existing water quality basin.
This report contains the hydraulic calculations to support the design of the
proposed storm drain improvements for the The Pavilion at La Costa project. The
hydraulic calculations were prepared utilizing the L.A. County Public Works
"W.S.P.G." computer software. The storm drain system has been designed to
convey the 100-year storm peak discharges.
IV. EXISTING HYDROLOGY MAP
The existing hydrology map for Green Valley Crossing is included herein. The
markings in red indicate the revised drainage areas.
