As requested PSI technician Dirk de Roggenbuke was at the above referenced site this date. The purpose of our visit was
to observed fit up and welding of the front entrance header.
8x4x1/4" columns were placed. 8x8x1/4" curved header was installed and tack welded into place. Certified welder Pascaul
Lopez (AWS certification 1102) used FCAW process to tack the member in place.
Work is in progress and work halted due to working hour restrictions of The Forum Carlsbad shopping mall.

As requested PSI technician Dirk de Roggenbuke was at the above referenced site this date. The purpose of our visit was
to observed fit up and welding of the front entrance header.
HSS 8x8x1/4" curved header was welded to the 8x4x1/4" columns. Existing HSS 3x3 were welded to the column. 8x4
angle was welded at the ends of the header to the column. Certified welder Pascaul Lopez (AWS certification 1102) used
FCAW with E71-T filler material to make 1/4" fillet welds and flare bevel groove welds. The welds were visually acceptable.
1/2" anchors were epoxied at the column baseplates. 5/8" holes were drilled into the existing concrete to have a minimum
of 2" embedment. The holes were cleaned with blowing and brushing. Hilti HIT-RE 500 V3 ( lot 14953375 exp. 3/31 /23)
was used.
Work was per details on S1 00.

floor of storage room w/ 2½" min embedment. Bolts installed per anti-tip detail 3/SH-1 aooroved

Bolts were toraued to a minimum of 40 ft-lbs.

This memo will address the comments received for the YETI-Carlsbad project (City of Carlsbad Plan
Check No: CBC2021-0482).
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE SENT TWO OF THE SAME REVISED SET OF PLANS DIRECTLY TO
INTERWEST FOR THEIR REVIEW.
Comments:
1. The Consistency Determination, CD2021-0029, for the fa9ade remodel must be approved before
the building permit can be approved.
Dewberry Architects Inc. Response:
We have received approval for the Consistency Determination. Please find attached a copy of
the appruvai letter.
2. Remove all proposed exterior signage from plans. Signage will be permitted under a separate
sign permit.
Dewberry Architects Inc. Response:
Signage has been removed from exterior elevations on sheet A-200. However, we are showing
the genera! location of the signs for coordination purposes
3. All rooftop units must be screened from view. Provide a screening material display demonstrating
this. An example is attached to the email along with the policy.
