In response to your request, I performed a site observation and visual inspection of the patio
deck framing for the above referenced project. Based on our discussions, review of the
existing conditions and the information provided by you about the spa specifications, the
patio framing around the spa appears to have the following problems:
• The existing 4x8 support beams under the spa are overstressed and needs to be
reinforced with additional 2x8 at each 4x8 per sketch SX-1.
• The Connection of the 4x8 support beams to the 6x6 shaped post has to be
reinforced with additional 2-1/2" diameter bolts per sketch SX-2.
• The foundations under the posts are inadequate and needs to be replaced with
larger foundations as it is shown per sketch SX-3.
Pleas refer to the attached calculations and sketches for more information.
