We are in the process of cornplet.ing our rerx:,rt of investigation for the subject lot which will include all suppxi-.i ng data. The design provided by Pacific Engineeri.ng appc·a.n, to be appropriate for its stated purpose which is to provide reinforcsxl foundations to suprx:,rt the imposed structural loads and distribute them to the underlying subgrade soils. We have re=rrrrended that the proposed continuo,ls footings be designed for an allowable soil rearing pressure of 1000 J:XJunds per square foot. This is for live load plus dead load and nay be increased 1/3 for oonbinations of wind and seismic forces. Cracks in the existing fo'..IIldation systPJTI have occurred, rrost probably, as a result of the inability of these shallow, unreinforced footings to tolerate minor differential noverrents. The proi:osed reinforced foundation system should mitigate any future cracking that might result from differential rroverrent. This opportunity to be of further service is sincerely appreciated.
