APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes of the Regular Meeting held July 12, 2022
Subcommittee M ember Acosta made the motion to pass the minutes. Mayor Hall seconded the
motion. The motion passed unanimously, 2/0.
PUBLIC COMMENT: Kelly LeBerthon spoke regarding agricultural land in Carlsbad.
SUBCOMMITTEE COMMENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS: None.
NEW BUSINESS:
Item 1.State and Federal Legislative Reports
Recommendation: Receive updates from representatives of U.S. Congressman
Mike Levin, State Senator Patricia Bates and State Assemblymember Tasha
Boerner Horvath, and provide feedback.
The subcommittee received informational reports from Kyle Krahel from
Congressman Levin's office, Jack Cleary from Senator Patricia Bates's office and
Janet Chi n from State Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath's office.
The subcommittee received the report.
Item 2. Office Of Governor Gavin Newsom -Regional Director's Update
Recommendation: Receive an update and overview of the Administration's
priorities, the cu rrent legislative session and FY 2023 state budget, an d provide
feedback.
The subcommittee received an informational report from Maurice Lyles and
Zach Bunshaft from Governor Gavin Newsom's office and reviewed a PowerPoint
presentation (on file in the Office of the City Clerk).
The subcommittee received the report.
Item 3. Legislative Update and Advocacy Report
Recommendation: Receive an update on state and federal legislative an d budget
activity and recent and ongoing advocacy efforts; discuss and provide feedback
to staff, including identifying high-priority bills, advocacy positions, and items for
future City Council consideration.
Renne Public Policy Group (RPPG) Director of Government Affairs Sharon
Gonsalves presented the report and reviewed a PowerPoint presentation (on file
in the Office of the City Clerk).
The subcommittee received the report.
SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBER REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
Subcommittee Member Acosta made the motion to bring back an agenda item to discuss the
Batiquitos Lagoon Trail, the Coastal Rail Trail and the linear park funding. Mayor Hall seconded the
motion. The motion passed unanimously, 2/0.
ADJOURN: Mayor Hall adjourned the duly noticed meeting at 2:32 p.m.
