Double Check Detector Backflow
Prevention Assemblies (Type II)
Size: 21/211 - 8" (65mm - 200mm)
The FEBCO MasterSeries LF876V Double Check Detector
Assembly is specifically designed to protect against possible
backpressure and backsiphonage conditions for non-health
hazard (i.e., pollutant) application in accordance with Local
Governing Water Utility Code.
This Backfiow Assembly is primarily used on potable drinking
water systems and fire sprinkler systems, where Local Governing
Code mandates protection from non-potable quality water being
pumped or siphoned back into the potable water system.

Specifications
The FEBCO MasterSeries LF876V Double Check Detector Valve
Assembly shall be installed on the potable water supply and at
each point of cross-connection to protect against possible
backpressure and backsiphonage conditions for non-health hazard
(i.e., pollutant) applications. The assembly shall consist of a
main line valve body composed of two (2) independently acting
approved clapper style check modules with replaceable seats
and disc rubbers. Servicing of both check modules does not
require any special tools and are accessed through independent
top entry covers. This assembly shall be fitted with approved UL/
FM inlet/outlet resilient seated shutoff valves and contain four (4)
properly located resilient seated test cocks as specified by AWVVA
Standard C510. The auxiliary bypass line contains a %"x3/4' Water
Meter that complies with ANSI/AV\,WA Standard C700 coupled
with an approved check assembly. The bypass line is designed
to detect leaks or unauthorized water usage of the water system
while protecting against possible backpressure and backsiphonage
conditions for non-health hazard (i.e., pollutant) application. The
assembly shall be approved for horizontal and/or vertical-up
installations while meeting the requirements of A\MNA Standard
C51 0 flow and pressure loss performance parameters.

Series IBR In-Building Risers are used to connect the main fire supply to
the building overhead fire system. The fitting passes under the foundation
without joints and extends up through the floor. Provided with installation
tabs, the unit has a CIPS (Cast Iron Pipe Size) coupler for easy connec-
tion to the underground supply (AWWA C900 PVC and Ductile Iron Pipe)
and industry standard grooved-end connection (AWWA C606) on the
building side for easy connection to the overhead fire sprinkler system.
Ames In-Building Risers are precision engineered and manufactured to
provide exceptional reliability and reduce installation time & labor costs
associated with field assembly. In accordance with NFPA 24-2007, the
UL/FM approved In-Building Risers replace numerous fittings, elbows
& spools and reduces the possibility of leaks or failure in comparison to
traditional installation methods and materials. Factory tested integrity
ensures the highest quality installation. The use of stainless steel signifi-
cantly increases the reliability and life of the riser.
*The wetted surface of this product contacted by
consumable water contains less than one quarter
of one percent (0.25°h) of lead by weight.

During the decade of the 1980's, the waterworks industry was introduced to the Resilient
Seated Gate Valve, a design principle that is dominant in preference for use in distribution
systems. Kennedy Company was at the forefront in this industry-wide movement by
introducing the Ken Seal Series, our AWWA C509 Resilient Seated Gate Valve.
In 2002, with the end user in mind, Kennedy redesigned the Ken Seal Series introducing the
model KS-FW. The goal of the redesign was to eliminate the customer need for any anti-
rotational bolts. Kennedy did this by designing a machined elliptical bolthole in place of an
as-cast opening. This elliptical design allows valve installers to slide a standard sized bolt into
the slot, therefore eliminating the need to have two different types of bolts on the installation.
RECOMMENDED SPECIFICATIONS FOR C-509 CAST IRON
RESILIENT WEDGE GATE VALVES
KENNEDY VALVE COMPANY
Valves shall conform to the latest revision of AWWA Standard C-509 covering resilient
seated gate valves for all water supply service.
The valves shall have a cast iron body, bonnet, and 0-ring plate. The wedge shall be totally
encapsulated with rubber.
The sealing rubber shall be permanently bonded to the wedge per ASTM D429.
Valves shall be supplied with 0-ring seals at all pressure retaining joints. No flat gaskets
shall be allowed. Blind bolts shall not be allowed.
The valves shall be either non-rising stem or rising stem, opening by turning left or right, and
provided with 2" square operating nut or a handwheel with the word "Open" and an arrow
to indicate the direction to open.
Stems for NRS assemblies shall be cast bronze with integral collars in full compliance with
AWWA. OS&Y (rising stems) shall be bronze. All stems shall operate with bronze stem nuts
independent of wedge and of stem (in NRS valves). Stainless stems are available but not
standard. NRS stems shall have two 0-rings located above thrust collar and one 0-ring
below. Stem 0-rings shall be replaceable with valve fully opened and subjected to full
pressure. The NRS stems on 2"- 12" shall also have two low torque thrust bearings located
above and below the stem collar to reduce friction during operation.
Waterway shall be smooth, unobstructed and free of all pockets, cavities and depressions
in the seat area. Tapping valves 4" and larger shall accept a full size tapping cutter.
The body, bonnet, and 0-ring plate shall be fusion-bond epoxy coated, both interior and
exterior on body and bonnet. Epoxy coating shall be NSF 61 certified and applied in accor-
dance with AWWA C550.
Each valve shall have manufacturers name, pressure rating, and year in which it was manu-
factured cast in the body. Prior to shipment from the factory, each valve shall be tested by
hydrostatic pressure equal to the requirements of AWWA C-509 (and UL/FM where applicable).
Valves shall have all component parts cast and assembled in the USA and shall be
manufactured by the Kennedy Valve Company.
