The plans submitted for the project referenced above have been reviewed. The following
information is needed to show compliance with the 2019 California Building and Fire
Codes (CBC and CFC), and other codes as adopted and amended by state regulation
and the City of Carlsbad. It will be necessary to reevaluate the project after the receipt of
additional information as specified below.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Resubmit three sets of the revised plans along with one set of the original plans.
2. Provide a written response for each correction on this correction list. You may write
directly on this list, or you may provide a separate "Response List" which addresses
each correction item by item.
3. Incorporate all corrections into the blue/black line drawings; cloud or call out all
corrections.

CORRECTIONS
ON THE PLANS THE FOLLOWING SHALL BE PROVIDED:
1. Identify the size of the tank. CFC§ 5701 .1
2. Specify the tank shall bear a label and placard identifying the material therein ,
"Diesel". CFC§ 5704.2.3.2
3. Specify warning signs of a durable material shall be placed on the exterior of the
generator enclosure. Signs warning of the hazard of combustible liquids shall have
white lettering on a red background and shall read: DANGER-COMBUSTIBLE
LIQUIDS. Letters shall not be less than 3" in height and ½" in stroke. CFC § 5703.5.
4. Specify a fire extinguisher with a rating no less than 40 B:C shall be place near the
generator enclosure. CFC § 5703.2.1
5. Specify smoking shall be prohibited and "No Smoking" signs shall be provided from

all areas of approach to the generator enclosure. CFC 5704.2.3.1
6. Identify how the tank will be refilled. CFC§ 5704.2.9.5.2

8. Identify the tank construction/UL Rating. CFC§ 5704.2.7
9. Vent pipe outlets for tanks storing Class I, II or IIIA liquids shall be located such that
the vapors are released at a safe point outside of buildings and not less than 12 feet
(3658 mm) above the finished ground level. Vapors shall be discharged upward or
horizontally away from adjacent walls to assist in vapor dispersion. Vent outlets shall
be located such that flammable vapors will not be trapped by eaves or other
obstructions and shall be at least 5 feet (1524 mm) from building openings or lot
lines of properties that can be built upon. Provide an elevation view that shows the
termination of the vent lines 12 feet above the finished ground level. CFC §
5704.2.7.3.3
10. Show location and details of the required NFPA 704 placards. CFC § 5704.2.3.2

Remarks:
1. The project shall comply with the Carlsbad Airport Centre Specific Plan
(SP 181).
2. Provide a site plan showing setback dimensions from property lines to
proposed enclosure as well as site coverage site coverage. Setbacks
and site coverage shall comply with Sections IV(A) and IV(B) of SP 181.
3. Provide elevations plans for proposed enclosure. Enclosure shall match
the architectural style and color of the existing building.
4. Show parking calculation on site plan. The required parking ratio for the
existing use is 1 parking space per 250 square feet of office space.
Existing and proposed number of parking spaces shall be provided as a
result of the elimination of two parking spaces needed to accommodate
the generator.
5. Provide a noise study showing how proposed generator complies with
the Noise Element of the Carlsbad General Plan and the city's Noise
Guidelines Manual (see link below). Additional noise standards can be
found in Section lll(A)(1) of SP 181.

The site plan is shown on A 100, noting the project location and setbacks. The site coverage, in
compliance with Sections IV(A) and IV(B) of SP 181 is noted on the title sheet, GOOD.
The elevations are shown on sheets A301 and A302 and noted to match the existing building.
The parking calculation has been noted on the title sheet, GODO. 463 parking spaces provide out of a
total of 486 spaces required.
