The Double Check Detector Backflow Prevention Assembly shall be ASSE® Listed 1048, and supplied with full port gate
valves. The main body and access cover shall be epoxy coated ductile iron (ASTM A 536 Grade 4), the seat ring and check
valve shall be NorylTM (NSF Listed), the stem shall be stainless steel (ASTM A 276) and the seat disc elastomers shall be
EPDM. The first and second check valves shall be accessible for maintenance without removing the device from the line. The
Double Check Detector Backflow Prevention Assembly shall be a WILKINS Model 350ADA.

Typical Installation
Local codes shall govern installation requirements. To be
installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions
and the latest edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code. Unless
otherwise specified, the assembly shall be mounted at a
minimum of 12° (305mm) and a maximum of 30° (762mm)
above adequate drains with sufficient side clearance for test-
ing and maintenance. The installation shall be made so that
no part of the unit can be submerged.
OUTDOOR INSTALLATION VERTICAL INSTALLATION
Specifications
The Double Check Detector Backflow Prevention Assembly shall be ASSE Listed 1048, and supplied with butterfly valves.
The main body and access covers shall be bronze (ASTM B 584), the seat ring and all internal polymers shall be NSF® Listed
NorylTM and the seat disc elastomers shall be SILICONE. The first and second check shall be located at a 45° angle and ac-
cessible for maintenance from the top of the device, without removing the device from the line. Each check shall have sepa-
rate access covers and test cocks shall be accessible from the top of the device. Test cocks shall be protected from debris
by a plug. The Double Check Detector Backflow Prevention Assembly shall be a ZURN WILKINS Model 950XLTDABF.

RECOMMENDED RULES FOR SIZING THE WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM
A 101.0 General.
A 101.1 Applicability. This appendix provides a general
procedure for sizing a water supply system. Because of the
variable conditions encountered, it is impractical to lay down
definite detailed rules of procedure for determining the sizes
of water supply pipes in an appendix, which shall necessarily
be limited in length. For a more adequate understanding of
the problems involved, refer to Water-Distributing Systems
for Buildings, Report BMS 79 of the National Bureau. of
Standards; and Plumbing Manual, Report BMS 66; also pub-
lished by the National Bureau of Standards.

>> A 102.2 Water Meter. Where the building supply is to be
metered, obtain information regarding friction loss relative
to the rate of flow for meters in the range of sizes likely to
be used. Friction-loss data is capable of being obtained
from most manufacturers of water meters. Friction losses
for disk-type meters shall be permitted to be obtained from
Chart A 102.2.
)> A 102.3 Local Information. Obtain available local informa-
tion regarding the use of different kinds of pipe with respect
both to durability and to decrease in capacity with length of
service in the particular water supply.
A 103.0 Demand Load.
A 103.1 Supply Demand. Estimate the supply demand for <(
the building main, the principal branches and risers of the
system by totaling the fixture units on each, Table A 103.1,
and then by reading the corresponding ordinate from Chart A
103.1(1) or Chart A 103.1(2), whichever is applicable.
A 103.2 Continuous Supply Demand. Estimate continu- <(
ous supply demands in gallons per minute (gpm) (L/s) for
lawn sprinklers, air conditioners, etc., and add the sum to
the total demand for fixtures. The result is the estimated
supply demand of the building supply.
A 104.0 Permissible Friction Loss.
A 104.1 Residual Pressure. Decide what is the desirable <(
minimum residual pressure that shall be maintained at the
highest fixture in the supply system. Where the highest
group of fixtures contains flushometer valves, the residual
pressure for the group shall be not less than 15 pounds-
force per square inch (psi) (103 kPa). For flush tank sup-
plies, the available residual pressure shall be not less than 8
psi (55 kPa).

Typical Installation
Local codes shall govern installation requirements. To be
installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions
and the latest edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code. Unless
otherwise specified, the assembly shall be mounted at a
minimum of 12" (305mm) and a maximum of 30 (762mm)
above adequate drains with sufficient side clearance for test-
ing and maintenance. The installation shall be made so that
no part of the unit can be submerged.
OUTDOOR INSTALLATION VERTICAL INSTALLATION
Specifications
The Double Check Detector Backflow Prevention Assembly shall be ASSE Listed 1048, and supplied with butterfly valves.
The main body and access covers shall be bronze (ASTM B 584), the seat ring and all internal polymers shall be NSF® Listed
NorylTM and the seat disc elastomers shall be SILICONE. The first and second check shall be located at a 45" angle and ac-
cessible for maintenance from the top of the device, without removing the device from the line. Each check shall have sepa-
rate access covers and test cocks shall be accessible from the top of the device. Test cocks shall be protected from debris
by a plug. The Double Check Detector Back-flow Prevention Assembly shall be a ZURN WILKlNS Model 950XLTDABF.
