Subject:Survey of interest for the City of Carlsbad 3rd Grade Art Contest
Hello Third Grade Teachers,
The Historic Preservation Commission is once again considering whether to host the Third Grade Art Contest for 2022, or
to postpone it again due to COVID‐19.
This fun and creative activity gives students an opportunity to explore their local heritage through art and through visits
to many of Carlsbad’s historic sites. Students are invited to draw artistic versions of natural resources, plants and
landscapes—with special attention to areas that have had an impact on the history of our city (e.g. lagoons, flower
fields, etc.)
In past years the winners presentation has been a lovely event: in person with the Mayor and City Council, the Historic
Preservation Commissioners, artwork posted on‐site and at the Cole Library, and a reception at City Hall. In 2020, we
adjusted this presentation with little notice. It was a virtual presentation with acknowledgement of artists and photos of
their artwork on the city webpage.
Please click on the box below to take the brief survey. It will help gauge the interest and availability of your classes.
Thank you for your valuable feedback,
