Recommended Action
Receive an informational report on a portion of the data compiled in preparation for the Parks
& Recreation Department’s Master Plan Update.
Executive Summary/Discussion
The data presented will include the City of Carlsbad’s demographics and recreation trends – as
compared to nationwide trends; a preview of the results of the master plan’s statistically reliable
survey - distributed randomly to Carlsbad households; and the outcome of the general recreation
program assessment, as well as the adults 50+ recreation program assessment.
The presentation will conclude with an outline of the next steps to completion of the master plan
update. Staff and the lead consultant plan to return to the Senior Commission with a draft of the
master plan update for review in early 2023.
