Dear Mrs. Beecher,
The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) of the Carlsbad Research Center (CRC) has
reviewed your monument sign application submitted on behalf of your tenant, Ultima
Genomics Inc., for your building located at 1555 Faraday Avenue on lot 105 of the CRC.
The plans show the re-facing of the existing monument sign with the “ULTIMA GENOMICS”
text/logo on both sides. The re-facing of the single monument sign is consistent with the CRC
Design Guidelines and therefore the submitted plans are considered APPROVED.

SUBJECT: SIGN PERMIT In Review - PS2023-0001
The City Planner has completed a review of the above-listed application for a Sign Permit.
After careful consideration of the request, the City Planner has determined that the application
meets the provisions of Title 21.41 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code (sign ordinance) and/or other
applicable city regulatory documents. Therefore, the City Planner approves the above-listed
application.
This decision may be appealed by you or any other member of the public to the Planning
Commission within 15 days of the date of this letter. Appeals must be submitted in writing to
the Planning Division at 1635 Faraday Avenue in Carlsbad, along with a payment of an Appeal
fee*. The filing of such appeal within such time limit shall stay the effective date of the order of
the City Planner until such time as a final decision on the appeal is reached.
Approval does not authorize construction. Building Permits are generally required in
conjunction with Sign Permits. Please contact the building department by visiting 1635 Faraday
Ave, Carlsbad 92008 or emailing building@carlsbadca.gov and obtain a building permit prior to
construction.
