Recommended Action
Receive a presentation from a representative of the City of Carlsbad’s Police Department that
will provide an overview of traffic and mobility-related police matters during the month of
January 2023.
Fiscal Analysis
This action has no fiscal impact.
Environmental Evaluation
In keeping with California Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute
a “project” within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act in that it has no
potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment. Therefore, it does not require
environmental review.
Public Notification and Outreach
This item was noticed in keeping with the Ralph M. Brown Act and it was available for public
viewing and review at least 72 hours before the scheduled meeting date.

NOTABLE COLLISION
•01/17/2023 @ 4:45 pm –Cannon Rd and N/B I-5 off-ramp
•Motorcyclist e/b Cannon Rd collided with a minivan exiting the
freeway.
•Witnesses identified the motorcyclist at fault after running the
red light.
•Motorcyclist was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the
hospital
