Dear Mr. Blauvelt: In accordance with your request, we have prepared this letter to address the City of Carlsbad comments regarding the proposed pervious pavers driveway and site drainage at the subject site. We have reviewed the grading plans prepared by Rancho Coastal Engineering and Surveying for the proposed two-story single-family residence and associated improvements at the subject site. The Pervious Paver Detail shown on the referenced grading plans (Reference No. 1) consists of 3 1/8-inch pavers underlain by a 2-inch thick bedding course of No. 8 aggregate, a 4-inch thick choker coarse of No. 57 crushed rock, and a 6-inch thick layer of 3/4 inch crushed rock. This section will be adequate for construction of the proposed driveway. For drainage adjacent to the proposed single-family residence, earth swales should be located at least 2 feet away from the proposed footings and sloping at least 2 percent away.
