Executive Summary/Discussion
Co-Chairs for this year’s Carlsbad Reads Together program, Librarian Missy Shaw and Library
Assistant Christina Lorenzo, will present an overview of Carlsbad Reads Together 2023.
The Carlsbad City Library is pleased to present a month of programming based around the adult
selection “The Line Becomes a River” by Francisco Cantú.
An Evening with Francisco Cantú
April 27, 2023, 6 p.m. via Zoom- Registration is required for this event.

My Path to Carlsbad
My Path to Carlsbad: Story Showcase. Submissions accepted March 1 - March 31. Stories on
display at the Georgina Cole Library until April 30.
Storytelling has the power to change assumptions, deepen the understanding of others'
experiences and connect communities. As part of this years’ Carlsbad Reads Together program,
the Carlsbad City Library is creating a special exhibit featuring stories of how families arrived in
Carlsbad. Stories will be artfully showcased in the Cole Library display case and shared on the
Carlsbad Reads Together webpage through May 2023.
Genealogy
• Focus On: Finding Your Mexican Roots: April 4 and 18, 2-4 p.m., Carlsbad City Library
Learning Center
Teen Events- “Unearthed: A Jessica Cruz Story”by Lilliam Rivera
Free copies of the teen title selection will be available while supplies last. Electronic copies are
available via Hoopla and print copies via the library catalog.
• Book Warriors Book Club: Tuesday, April 18 at 4 p.m. via Zoom (Grades 7-12)
• Teen Into to Genealogy- Discover Your Family Tree
Teens will learn how to use Ancestry.com and discover their family roots to create a
family tree.
Carlsbad City Library on Dove Lane, Wednesday, April 19 at 4 p.m.
Georgina Cole Library, Thursday, April 20 at 4 p.m.
• Book Explorers: April 20 at 3:30 p.m., Carlsbad Library Learning Center (Grades 4-6)
Children & Family Events: “Bright Star” by Yuyi Morales
• Carlsbad City Library StoryWalk: Take a walk, read a book, have an adventure.
StoryWalk will be available at all three library locations in the children’s areas.
• All-Star Readers Book Club: Tuesdays in April (Except April 11) at 3:30 p.m., Carlsbad
Library Learning Center
• All regular programming will be centered around the theme of “Bright Star”.
Exploration HUB Classes
• Photoshop Elements: Techniques of Photojournalism (Times and dates to be
determined)
• Silhouette Cameo: Personalized Coffee Mug (Times and dates to be determined)
• Tinkercad 3D Design: Empathy Keychain (Times and dates to be determined)
