Recommended Action
Receive a presentation from a representative of the City of Carlsbad’s Police Department that
will provide an overview of traffic and mobility-related police matters during the month of
March 2023, including Notable News for the month of April.

This action has no fiscal impact.
Environmental Evaluation
In keeping with California Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute
a “project” within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act in that it has no
potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment. Therefore, it does not require
environmental review.
Public Notification and Outreach
This item was noticed in keeping with the Ralph M. Brown Act and it was available for public
viewing and review at least 72 hours before the scheduled meeting date.

APRIL NOTABLE NEWS
•On April 21, at 8:42 am, a vehicle traveling westbound on Alga
Rd. had a mechanical failure of his brakes and collided with
another vehicle and a large box truck. The driver of the vehicle
on Alga sustained major injuries to his legs. Driver cited.
•On April 21, at 1443, the driver of a BMW was traveling
northbound on El Camino Real at a high rate of speed, ran the
red light at College Blvd., and struck a Tesla making a right turn.
The passenger of the BMW and the driver of the Tesla sustained
major injuries. It will be forwarded to DA for possible charges.

•Aviara Oaks –Ongoing complaint related to school traffic
