Regular Meeting
Oct. 6, 2022, 3 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER: 3 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Ross, Venegas-Garcia, and Sander.
Absent: Rangus, Mehan.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Venegas-Garcia led the Pledge of Allegiance.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes of the Regular Meeting held Sept. 1, 2022
Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Lancaster announced that the approval of minutes for the Sept. 1,
2022, Senior Commission meeting would be postponed due to a lack of quorum present from that
meeting.
CONSENT CALENDAR: None.
PUBLIC COMMENT: None.
PUBLIC HEARINGS: None.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS:
1. MASTER PLAN UPDATE – ADULTS 50+ RECREATION PROGRAMMING PLAN PRELIMINARY FINDINGS:
Receipt of a report on the Adults 50+ recreation program plan preliminary findings.
Recommendation: Receive the report.
Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Lancaster deferred the master plan update for adults 50+ to the
November meeting due to the absence of the Senior Commission Chair and Vice Chair. He explained
that their absence hindered the ability to review master plan updates and provide input. He added
that the city was experiencing internet connection problems that would hamper online and public
television viewing of the meeting, particularly the appearance of the graphics within the Power-
Point presentation that was to accompany the Master Plan Update.
The Commission received the report.

2. DEPARTMENT REPORT
Receipt of a report on recently completed and upcoming Senior Center activities and programs, as
well as other topics of interest.
Recommendation: Receive the report.
Recreation Area Manager Margaret Hamer shared a power point presentation on fall classes, high-
lighting the more popular classes like Tai Chi and Rock Painting. Ms. Hamer shared information on
the senior excursion to Scripps Birch Aquarium and the upcoming excursion to Bates Nut Farm. Ms.
Hamer also provided information on the last Concerts in the Courtyard for the year that are coming
up with the last one scheduled for Nov. 14 being accompanied by a craft fair. She gave an update
on the Senior Center health and wellness offerings as well as nutrition information and reminded
the Commissioners of the upcoming Boards and Commission Appreciation Event at Leo Carrillo
Ranch on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
The Commission received the report.

AGENDA ITEMS FOR FUTURE COMMISSION MEETING:
Parks and Recreation Director, Kyle Lancaster, announced that the Master Plan update for the adults
50+ recreation programming plan preliminary findings would be included in future meetings.
ADJOURNMENT:
Motion by Commissioner Venegas-Garcia, seconded by Commissioner Ross, to adjourn the meeting at
3:14 p.m.
