Receive an update from San Diego County District 3 Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer and
provide feedback.
Executive Summary/Explanation & Analysis
San Diego County District 3 Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer is a former educator, economist
and environmental attorney who was elected to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in
November 2020. San Diego County’s Third Supervisorial District spans the region’s coastline
from Carlsbad to Coronado, and extends inland to include communities such as Harmony
Grove, Rancho Santa Fe and Mira Mesa.
Supervisor Lawson-Remer’s priorities are:
•Sustainable, equitable, and livable communities
o Climate change and climate justice
o Protecting our beaches and coastlines
o Transit, traffic, and infrastructure
o Protecting our ecosystems and open spaces
o Affordable Housing near jobs, schools, and transit
•Justice system
o Access to justice
o Data driven approaches to public safety
o Environmental justice
o Alternatives to armed law enforcement
•Impactful and effective county operations
o Evidence-based policymaking
o Expanding access and enrollment in health and human services to make the
county work for everyone

o Inclusion for diverse families: LGBTQIA+ community, single parents, and people
with disabilities

o Fighting for working families with fair wages, decent working conditions, and the

Supervisor Lawson-Remer will provide an update and overview of the supervisor’s 2023 project
and policy priorities, as well as those of the County Board of Supervisors that are most relevant
to the city, including those related to CARE Court implementation, the San Diego County
McClellan-Palomar Airport and the Palomar Airport Advisory Committee, homelessness and
behavioral health services, among others.

This item has no fiscal impact.
Next Steps
None.
Environmental Evaluation
This action does not require environmental review because it does not constitute a project
within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act under California Public
Resources Code Section 21065 in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical
change or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
