Recommended Action
Receive a presentation from a representative of the City of Carlsbad’s Police Department that
will provide an overview of traffic and mobility-related police matters during the months of
May and June 2023, including Notable News for the month of July.
Fiscal Analysis
This action has no fiscal impact.
Environmental Evaluation
In keeping with California Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute
a “project” within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act in that it has no
potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment. Therefore, it does not require
environmental review.
Public Notification and Outreach
This item was noticed in keeping with the Ralph M. Brown Act and it was available for public
viewing and review at least 72 hours before the scheduled meeting date.

JUNE NOTABLE NEWS
•On June 4th at 2:55 am, a solo vehicle collided into a tree in the 1500 block of Aviara Pkwy. The driver sustained major injuries and case was forwarded to DA for DUI.
•On June 8th at 2:35 pm, a motorcyclist traveling northbound on Whiptail Loop collided with a vehicle exiting a private driveway. The motorcyclist sustained major injuries. The driver was cited, and the investigation is still active.
•Two-day Office of Traffic Safety conference : E-Bikes, Sideshow events, funding for educational and enforcement opportunities

JULY NOTABLE NEWS
•On July 23rd at 6:40 am, a truck traveling southbound on Paseo Del
Norte left the roadway and collided into a tree. The driver sustained
major injuries and passed away on July 26th. Impairment is suspected.
•TGIF Concert Series (Stagecoach, Poinsettia and Calavera) minimal
parking/traffic issues
