The valve provides for one inlet and two outlets. This design allows for replacement of the system gauge without shutting down the water supply to the sprinkler system. This design also allows Authoritys' Having Jurisdication to test system pressure with an additional gauge through the second outlet. (The second outlet is normally plugged during installation with a 1/4" IPS pipe plug.) Installation Specifications Materials: Seat- Brass Body- Brass Handwheel - Iron Sizes: 1/4" IPS Working Pressure: 400 WOG Installation of the three-way valve can be accomplished with normal field installation tools. Make sure the valve is installed according to the flow indication arrow that has been cast into the valve body. The most common installation Thread Sealing Tape or a suit- able pipe thread sealant such as PipeF it® Thread Sealant Paste with PTFE when in- stalling the valve. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THREADS. Maintaining a supply of spare sprinklers on the premises of automatic sprinkler systems will aid in the prompt replacement of operated or damaged sprin- klers and returning a fire protection system to ser- vice as soon as possible. This is a requirement of NFPA and most Authori- ties Having Jurisdiction. Refer to the applicable NFPA standard governing your specific installation for further details. Six or twelve sprinkler capacity cabinets are avail- able. This also provides for storage of the appropriate wrench which is required for the installation and removal of sprinklers. NFPA 25 requires the total number of spare sprinklers to be stored on the pre- mises of an automatic sprinkler system meet the minimum quantities shown in the accompanying table. When the sprinkler system includes more than one type of temperature rating sprinkler, the stock of spare sprinklers must include a proportional sampling of each type and temperature rating; however, a mini- mum of 3 each is recom- mended. Pipefit is suitable for use on all threadable materials commonly used in fire sprinkler systems, including CPVC. Pipefit's unique blend of materials provides superior thread sealing qualities over other similarly priced sealants. The particulate PTFE also helps prevent leaks by accumulating in the voids of damaged or defective threads of the pipe or fittings. Additionally, the lubricating qualities of the PTFE and other materials in the sealing paste improve thread seating during pipe and fitting assembly. Pipefit® also adheres well to hot oily pipe present in "high speed' fabrication operations. Design Criteria/Data Recommended Use Water Air Refrigerants Natural Gas Mild caustics Steam Kerosene LP Gases Acids Gasoline Diesel Fuel Ammonia Use for threaded connections on steel, aluminum, brass, PVC, CPVC and ABS. Apply Pipefit® liberally to the male pipe threads. Make sure that the thread sealant is brushed into the "root" of the threads. Do not wipe off excess material until fitting has been "made on" to the pipe thread. The threading action of the fitting to the pipe will allow the proper amount of sealant to remain in the connection. Wipe off excess sealant. Pipefit® will not dry out under normal conditions. Never use dope and tape together. Keep covered when not in use to avoid contamination. Some settling of the product may occur. Occasional stirring may be necessary. Two year shelf life.
