This provides sprinkler operation approxi- mately six times faster than ordinary sprinklers. While the Quick Response Sprinkler provides an aesthetically pleasing appearance, it can be installed wherever standard spray sprinklers are specified but offers the additional feature of greatly increased safety to life. Quick Response Sprinklers should be used advisedly and under the direction of approving authorities having jurisdiction. The heart of Globe's GL Series sprinkler proven actuating assembly Js a hermetically sealed frangible glass ampule that contains a precisely measured amount of fluid. When heat is absorbed, the liquid within the bulb expands increasing the internal pressure. At the prescribed temperature the internal pressure within the ampule exceeds the strength of the glass causing the glass to shatter. This results in water discharge which is distributed in an approved pattern depending upon the deflector style used. TECHNICAL DATA See reverse side for Approvals and Specifications. It provides the best form of fire protection while offering an attractive appearance and 1/2 inch of cover adjustment for ease of installation. The small diameter cover plate is easily and positively at- tached and blends into the ceiling, concealing the most dependable fire protection available, an auto- matic sprinkler system. The Model G4A Concealer 0 is designed for use where aesthetic appearance is important. Offices, hospitals, motels and restaurants are but a few of the applications where is can be used. It is available in different orifice sizes allowing the designer to opti- mize system pert ormance, thereby achieving a very efficient installation. The Model G4A Concealer® is a UL Listed Quick Response Concealed sprinkler intended for use in accordance with NFPA13. FM Approves this sprin- kieras a standara response concealed sprinkler in- tended for use in accordance with FM Loss Prevention Data Sieet 2-8N. Product Description The Reliable Model G4A Concealer® uses a proven quick response fusible element in a standard style sprinkler frame with a drop-down deflector. This assembly Eis recessed into the ceiling and concealed by a flat cover plate. The cover plate and sprinkler cup assemblies are attached using a strong threaded engagement. This threaded engagement provides W' of cover adjustment. The cover plate is attached to the skrt using 135°F ordinary tempera- ture classification .301der. When the ceilirg temperature rises, the solder holding the cover plate melts, allowing the release of this part and thus Exposing the sprinkler inside to the rising ambient temperature. The subsequent fusing of the element opens the waterway and causes the deflector to distribute the water. Any secure engagement between the cover plate and cup will assure that the drop-down deflec- tor is properly located below the ceiling. After a 2/ inch diameter hole is cut in the ceiling, the sprinkler is easily installed with the Model G4 Wrench. The wrench has drive tangs which insert into the cup slots. When installing a sprinkler the wrench is first posi- tioned into the sprinkler/cup assembly until the wrench tangs engage the drive slots in the top of the cup (there are two sets of drive slots in the cup). The sprinkler is then tightened into the pipe fitting. When inserting or re- moving the wrench from the sprinkler/cup assembly care should be taken to prevent damage to the sprinkler. DO NOT WRENCH ON ANY OTHER PART OF THE SPRINKLER/CUP ASSEMBLY. Final adjustment of the cover is made by hand turning the cover in the clock- wise direction until it is tight against the ceiling. A protective cap is provided to protect the drop-down sprinkler deflector from damage which could occur dur- ing construction before the cover plate is installed. The cap is factory installed inside the sprinkler cup.
