Accepted, approved and filed the September 30, 2013 commission meeting summary report.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS:
2. AGENDA ITEM# 1213-2 NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND COMPEHENSIVE ACTION PLAN (ACTION)
Accepted the Needs Assessment and Comprehensive Action Plan with the exception of changing
the wording of one of the short term action items to, "[Study the feasibility of modifying] two
existing tennis courts in well served areas to accommodate outdoor pickleball courts as
determined by the equity mapping."
Mary Anne Viney, a Carlsbad resident, addressed the Commission regarding the distribution and
allocation of reported park acreage in the City of Carlsbad.
Doren Curtiss, a Carlsbad resident, spoke regarding the completion of the tennis courts and
community center at Poinsettia Park.
3. AGENDA ITEM # 1213-3 CITIZEN REVIEW COMMITTEE -(ACTION)
Commission elected Commissioner Nelson to serve on the 2013-14 Citizen Review Committee for
Community Activity Grant applications.
4. AGENDA ITEM# 1213-4 SENIOR CENTER REPORT (INFORMATION)
Commission received a Senior Center report from Recreation Area Manager, Kevin Granse.

Re: Summary of the February 27, 2014 Senior Commission Meeting
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
By proper motion, the minutes of the Senior Commission meeting of January 23, 2014 were
approved and the December 4, 2013 meeting minutes have been postponed due to a lack of a
quorum of commissioners at that meeting.
CONSENT CALENDAR
1. AB# 0214-1 SUMMARY REPORT-(ACTION)
Accepted, approved and filed the January 23, 2014 Senior Commission meeting summary
report and postponed the December 4, 2013 summary report due to a lack of a quorum of
commissioners at that meeting.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS:
2. AB# 0214-2 NEEDS ASSESSMENT DISCUSSION -(INFORMATION)
Commission discussed the recently completed needs assessment report for the Parks
and Recreation Department as it relates to senior programming.
3. AB# 0214-3 ELECTION OF SENIOR COMMISSION OFFICERS -(ACTION)
Elections of Senior Commission officers for the 2014 calendar year were completed, with
Ray Pearson the newly elected Chairperson and Dr. David Tweedy the newly elected Vice
Chairperson.
4. AB# 0214-4 SENIOR CENTER REPORT (INFORMATION)
Commission received a senior center report from manager Kevin Granse.
