Home My WebLink About2007-07-02; Traffic Safety Commission; ; Elect a Vice-Chairperson of the Traffic Safety Commission to serve from August 2007 through July 2008( CITY OF CARLSBAD TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION STAFF REPORT COMMISSION MEETING OF: July 2, 2007 LOCATION: NIA INITIATED BY: Deputy City Engineer, Transportation ITEM NO. 6B REQUESTED ACTION: Elect a Vice-Chairperson of the Traffic Safety Commission to serve from August 2007 through July 2008. BACKGROUND: Each year, it has been customary for the Traffic Safety Commission (TSC) to rotate the role of the Chairperson by electing a Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson to serve a one-year term beginning in August. Generally, after serving as Vice-Chairperson, the Vice-Chairperson is elected the Chairperson of the Traffic Safety Commission for the following year. At the June 4, 2007 meeting of the Traffic Safety Commission, Vice-Chairperson Roney was elected to serve as Chairperson of the Commission beginning August 2007 and serving through July 2008. Commissioner Cress was not at the June 4, 2007 meeting. Commissioner Bradshaw has resigned from the Commission effective August 1, 2007 and her last Traffic Safety Commission meeting will be July 2, 2007 .. With the resignation of Commissioner Bradshaw, the rotation for electing a Commissioner to serve as Vice-Chairperson of the Traffic Safety Commission will require discussion among the four remaining Commissioners. For this reason, no action was taken June 4, 2007 to determine the new Vice-Chairperson as only three remaining Commissioners were present. Other than Commissioner Roney, Commissioners Cress, Dorsey, and Gardner have all served as Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Traffic Safety Commission. Current Chairperson Gardner and Commissioner Dorsey have served in the most recent past. Commissioner Cress served as Chairperson from June 7, 2004 through June 23, 2005. RECOMMENDATION: Elect a Vice-Chairperson, as determined by the Traffic Safety Commission, to serve from August 2007 through July 2008. NECESSARY CITY COUNCIL ACTION: No action required.
