Corona Del Mar, CA. 92625 Telephone 949-675.4487 Fax 949-675-4456 July 26, 2019 To: City of Carlsbad Engineering Department Attention: Mr. David Rick Associate Engineer Subject: Drainage issues at 5198 Shore Drive Dear Mr. Rick: This letter is in response to the question of drainage blockage of the properties at 5185 and 5195 Carlsbad Boulevard due to the new construction at 5198 Shore Drive. As you are aware, openings have been provided on the new grading plan wall design to prevent blockage of any surface drainage from the above referenced properties. If you would refer to the attached plan, the area of both referenced properties plus the half street of Carlsbad Boulevard would be ' approximately 0.46 acres resulting in a Q of 1.17 cfs. As noted on the plan, there will be seven--3" x 6" wall openings in which each opening can accommodate 0.27 cfs. Thus the seven wall openings will be able to handle a Q of 1.89 cfs.. .substantially more than the Q of 1.17 cfs. Additionally shown on the plan is the additional portion of the Carlsbad Boulevard half street (roughly 243'x 50') if it was to drain towards 5198 Shore Drive that could be accommodated b y the seven wall openings (1.89 cfs).
