Executive Summary This presentation provides an update on the Batiquitos ArtVentures Pilot Program. The program is designed as a STEAM field trip offered to elementary schools located within the City of Carlsbad’s four districts. Explanation & Analysis This program for first-grade students is held onsite at the Batiquitos Lagoon integrating environmental sciences and the arts. The STEAM Pilot Program is in its second year. The presentation will include data compiled to inform future program deliverables. Fiscal Analysis STEAM Program funding is included in Cultural Arts General Funding Budget. No additional funding is being requested at this time. STEAM Pilot Program is included in the Carlsbad Arts & Culture Master Plan (2018) under Lifelong Learning Initiative (LL 1.1). Next Steps Staff will analyze program deliverables, statistics, and feedback from the pilot programs to make recommendations for future STEAM programming. Environmental Evaluation This item does not require environmental review because it does not constitute a project within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act under California Public Resources Code Section 21065 in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
