Motion carried, 4/0/1 (Berger -Absent ). PRESENTATIONS: None. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. CONSENT CA LENDAR: None. PUBLI C HEARIN G: None. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS: 1. LEGISLATIVE UPDATE -Receive a presentat ion regarding the Intergovernmental Affairs Program of the City of Carlsbad and the city's recent and ongoing legislative advocacy efforts related to affordable housing and homelessness and provide feedback as appropriate. (Staff contact: Jason Haber, City Manager's Department) Reco mmended Action : Receive the presentation and provide feedback. Commissioners received the presentation by Councilmember Burkholder and Jason Haber, asked questions and made comments, staff and Councilmember Burkholder responded. 2. JANUARY 2023 -JUNE 2024 HOUSING COMMISSION WORK PLAN REPORT AND FISCAL YEAR 2024-25 HOUSING COMMISSION WORK PLAN -Adopt a resolution recommending that the City Council approve the January 2023 -June 2024 Housing Commission Work Plan Report and the FY 2024-25 Housing Commission Work Plan. (Staff contact: Christian Gutierrez, Housing & Homeless Services Department) Recommended Action: Adopt the resolution. Commissioners asked questions and made comments, staff responded . May 9, 2024 Housing Commission Regular Meeting Page 2 Motion by Chair Collins, seconded by Commissioner Horton, to adopt the resolution. Resolution No. 2024-005 carried, 4/0/1 (Berger -Absent). COMMISSION CO MM ENTARY AND REQUESTS FOR CONSIDERATION OF MATTERS: There was discussion of support to receive PowerPoint presentation materials prior to the meeting and for more detailed information in the Staff Reports when there is a presentation only. A printed copy of the slides will be given to the commissioners at each meeting. Commissioner Ydigoras gave a shout out to Carolina from Legal Aid Society and also wanted to salute service families in advance of Memorial Day. Chair Collins also saluted service families. Vice-Chair Chang brought up Windsor Pointe and said he feels powerless to do anything as a Housing Commissioner. Director Mills reminded the commissioners that there will be Council Meetings on the subject in June and August and that they can direct constituents to email the City Council. ANN OUN CEMENTS: None. STAFF CO MM ENTS: Director Mills announced that the April CDBG plan was approved by the City Council in May and that Windsor Pointe concerns will be addressed at the Council Meetings in June and August. One of the new affordable housing projects, Pacific Wind, is open with 86 new units. The project took about 12 years and people are now moving in.
