(Staff contact: Fiona Everett, Library & Cultural Arts Department) Recommendation:.Receive the report. Commissioners received the report and reviewed a PowerPoint presentation (on file in the Office of the City Clerk). Commissioner George commented on the community expressing the use of local artists for the Chestnut Underpass public art project and communicating the process and size of the undertaking to the community. Senior Management Analyst Fiona Everett agreed and answered that no Carlsbad artist applied for the project, adding that the Chestnut Underpass is a unique art project involving transportation construction, architecture and engineering along with the art esthetic. Fiona Everett answered the city encourages citizen participation in the community engagement segment of the project supporting the final design. 4. FISCAL YEAR 2024-25 BUDGET SUBMISSION -Receive a report on the fiscal year 2024-25 Library & Cultural Arts budget submission. (Staff contact: Fiona Everett, Library & Cultural Arts) Recommendation: Receive the report. Commissioners received the report and reviewed a PowerPoint presentation (on file in the Office of the City Clerk). COMMISSIONER COMMENTARY AND REQUESTS FOR CONSIDERATION OF MATTERS: This portion of the agenda is for the Arts Commissioners to make brief announcements, brief reports of their activities and requests for future agenda item The Arts Commissioners reported on activities and events they attended. ACTION: Minute Motion by Vice Chair Ferone, seconded by Commissioner Miringoff to add a future agenda item to discuss restructuring community arts grant funding strategy to award larger grants to fewer grantees.
