Schedule-10·/Schedu le-40·
Fully Listed and FM Approved Sprinkler Pipe
When you specify Schedule-I O/Schedule-40 sprinkler pipe you get a UL listed and FM approved product. Although these
products do not require separate approvals, Schedule-I O/Schedule-40 gives you the extra quality assurance you demand.
Our Sch-IO (1 1~ "-8") pipe and Sch-40 ( l "-2 ~ ") pipe have passed the same thorough lab tes~g as our other listed pipe
products, and receive periodic mill inspections from both UL and FM agents to ensure consistent quality.
Galvanized Pipe
Schedule-I O/Scbedule-40 product can be
"hot-dip" galvanized to meet FM
requirements for dry systems in
accordance with the zinc coating
specifications of ASTM A-123.
Superior Coating
Our advanced formula mill coating of-
fers a clean, durable surface. It is also
paint-ready for custom color applications
without special preparation.
The internal surface of all black Allied
Tube &_Conduit Fire Sprinkler pipe
products up to 4.5000" in diameter is
coated with our new Antibacterial For-
mula, "ABF". In scientific laboratory
test, ABS proved to have superior resis-
tance to microbial colonization of pipe
walls, thereby delaying or possibly pre-
venting the onset of Microbiologically
Influenced corrosion (MIC) when the
First Sprinkler System is first installed.
American Made
Meets "Buy American" requirement
and is available through distributors in
the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Specifications & Approvals
Schedule-10/Schedule-40 pipe are in
compliance with the following:
ASTM A-135, and NFPA 13. Both pipe
products have a working pressure rating
of300 psi maximum and also meet the
stringent requirement for the following
tests:
• Welded Outlets
• Hydrostatic Pressure
• Side Wall Rupture
• Vibration Test

Coatings & Fabrication
Dyna-Flow products are coated with
an environmentally approved and
specially formulated modified-acrylic or
water-based coating. This durable coating
is paintable. The black coating acts as
an excellent primer and is resistant to
weathering and U.V. degradation from
outdoor storage.
Metallurgical properties provide excellent
fabrication characteristics for end prep
finishes, welding and roll grooving.
There is no special proces11 or equipment
needed for fubrication and installation.
The internal surface of all black Allied
Tube & Conduit Fire Sprinkler pipe
products up to 4.5000" in diameter is
coated with our new Antibacterial
Formula, "ABF'. In scientific laboratory

Bolted Branch Outlets
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Styles 920 and 920N
Style 920 Cross
See Victaullc
publication 10.01
for details.
See chart on page 4 for pressure ratings.
Victaulic Mechanical-T®
Outlet provides a direct
branch connection at any
location a hole can be cut in
pipe. The hole is cut oversize
to receive a "holefinder"
locating collar which secures
the outlet in position perma-
nently. A pressure responsive
gasket seals on the pipe O.D.
Cross-type connections can
be achieved by utilizing two
upper housings of the same
style and size, with the same
or differing branch size con-
nections. NOTE: Style 920
and Style 920N housings
cannot be mated to achieve
a cross connection.
Style 920 and Style 920N
Mechanical-T outlets are
available with grooved or
female threaded outlet. Spec-
ify choice on order. Units are
supplied painted with plated
bolts. Galvanized housings
are available, supplied with
plated bolts.
All sizes of Style 920 and
920N are rated at 500 psi
(3450 kPa) working pressure
on~steel pipe. They may also
be used on high density poly-
ethylene or polybutylene
(HDPE) pipe. Pressure rat-
ings on HDPE are dependent
on the pipe rating. Contact
Victau!ic for ratings on other
pipe. Style 920 and 920N
are not recommended for
use on PVC plastic pipe.
Standard piping practices
dictate that the Mechani-
cal-T Styles 920 and 920N
must be installed so that the
main and branch connec-
tions are a true 90° angle
when permanently attached
to the pipeline surface.

Size Range -3/8" thru 7/8" rod by 4" thru 16" length.*
Function -To offer more secure fastening of various types
of beam clamps to beam where danger of movement might be
expected. NFPA 13 requires the use of retaining straps with
all beam clamps installed in earthquake areas. Satisfies
requirements of NFPA 13 (1999) 6-4.7.1 .
Important Note -Good installation practice of a retaining
strap requires that the strap be held tightly and securely to all
component parts of the assembly. Therefore a locking mecha-
nism of some kind such as a hex nut or the beveled locking
slot on the TOLCO™ Fig. 69R will provide a more secure
reliable installation.

I Patents: US Patent No. 6,374,920 Applies to
Model F1 FR Vertical Sidewall Sprinklers.
Product Description
Reliable Models F1 FR and F1 FR Recessed Sprinklers are
quick response sprinklers which combine the durability of a
standard sprinkler with the attractive low profile of a decorative
sprinkler.
The Models F1 FR and F1 FR Recessed automatic sprinklers
utilize a 3.0 mm frangible glass bulb. These sprinklers have
demoostrated response times in laboratory tests which are
five to ten times faster than standard response sprinklers. This
quick response enables the Model F1 FR and F1 FR Recessed
sprinklers to apply water to a fire much faster than standard
sprinklers of the same temperature rating.
The glass bulb consists of an accurately controlled amount
of special fluid hermetically sealed inside a precisely manu-
factured glass capsule. This glass bulb is specially con-
structed to provide fast thermal response. The balance of
parts are made of brass, oopper and beryllium nickel.
At normal temperatures, the glass bulb contains the fluid
in both the liquid and vapor phases. The vapor phase can
be seen as a small bubble. As heat is applied, the liquid ex-

pands, forcing the bubble smaller and smaller as the liquid
pressure increases. Continued heating forces the liquid to
push out against the bulb, causing the glass to shatter,
opening the waterway and allowing the deflector to distrib-
ute the discharging water.
Application
Quick response sprinklers are used in fixed fire protec-
tion systems: Wet, Dry, Deluge or Preaction. Care must be
exercised that the orifice size, temperature rating, deflector
style and sprinkler type are in accordance with the latest
published standards of the National Fire Protection Asso-
ciation or the approving Authority Having Jurisdiction.
Quick response sprinklers are intended for installation as
specified in NFPA 13. Quick response sprinklers and stan-
dard response sprinklers should not be intermixed.

specified in NFPA 13. Quick response sprinklers and stan-
dard response sprinklers should not be intermixed.
The Medel F1 FR Recessed Quick Response Sprinklers are to
be installed as st-own. The Medel F1 cr F2 Escutchems illus-
trated are the only recessed escutcheons to be used with the
Medel F1 FR Sprinklers. The use of any other recessed escutch-
eon will void all approvals and negate all warranties.
vVhen installing Medel F1 FR Sprinklers, use the Medel D Sprin-
kler Wrench. 'Mlen installing Model F1 FR Recessed Pendent or
Side.val! Sprinklers, use the Model GFR1 Sprinkler Wrench. Any
other type of wrench may damage these sprinklers.
Glass bulb sprinklers have orange bulb protectors to minimize
bulb damage during shipping, handling and installation. RE-
MOVE THIS PROTECTION AT THE TIME THE SPRINKLER
SYSTEM IS PLACED IN SERVICE FOR FIRE PROTECTION. Re-
rmval of the protectors before this time may leave the bulb vul-
nerable to damage. RASCO wrenches are designed to install
sprinklers when covers are in place. REMOVE PROTECTORS
BY UNDOING THE CLASP BY HAND. DO NOT USE TOOLS
TO REMOVE THE PROTECTORS.

The Models F1 FR and F1 FR Recessed Sprinklers
should be inspected quarterly and the sprinkler system
maintained in accordance with NFPA 25. Do not clean
sprinklers with soap and water, ammonia or any other
cleaning fluids. Remove dust by using a soft brush or gen-
tle vacuuming. Remove any sprinkler which has been
painted (other than factory applied) or damaged in any
way. A stock of spare sprinklers should be maintained to
allow quick replacement of damaged or operated sprin-
klers. Prior to installation, sprinklers should be maintained
in the original cartons and packaging until used to mini-
mize the potential for damage to sprinklers that would
cause improper operation or non-operation.
