Recommended Action
Receive a report and approve the FY 2023-24 California Public Library Survey for submittal to
the California State Library.
Executive Summary
Per Carlsbad Municipal Code 2.16.090, the Library Board of Trustees annually approves
statistical and other information deemed desirable by the state librarian for the previous fiscal
year. The data compiled by the state provides for a comparative study of library conditions
statewide.
The data requested by the California State Library varies year to year. Attached is a draft of the
proposed submittal, though the actual submittal is submitted within a specialized software
program. Formatting for printing and review is not prioritized by the software; it includes
information from the prior year’s submittal.

Upon approval by the Library Board of Trustees, the Library & Cultural Arts Director will submit
