NEW BUSINESS
Item 1. Legislative Subcommittee - Duties & Workplan
Recommendation: Review City Council Resolution No. 2019-137 - Authorizing the
formation of a standing City Council Legislative Subcommittee, discuss the
Subcommittee’s duties and workplan, including a schedule for future meetings, and
provide direction to staff.
Item 2. City Council Policy No. 39 – Legislative Program
Recommendation: Review City Council Policy No. 39 – Legislative Program, discuss
potential amendments to recommend to the City Council, and provide direction to staff.
Item 3. City of Carlsbad Legislative Platform
Recommendation: Review the City of Carlsbad Legislative Platform, discuss potential
amendments to recommend to the City Council, and provide direction to staff.
Item 4. Monitoring State and Federal Legislation
Recommendation: Discuss monitoring of State and Federal proposed legislation to
inform Subcommittee recommendations to the City Council to identify high priority bills
and advocacy positions on bills not addressed by the Legislative Platform; provide
direction to staff.
Item 5. Local and Regional Legislative Needs
Recommendation: Discuss the identification of local and regional legislative needs to
recommend bill sponsorship opportunities to the City Council and provide direction to
staff.
