The project is located on La Costa Avenue approximately 600' east of Piraeus Street at a low spot in the vertical
alignment of the roadway Curb outlets on the north and south side of La Costa Avenue are cumently in place to
collect street flow and discharge collected storm water runoff directly into Batiquitos Lagoon (North) and a brow
ditch (South) that flows west several hundred feet into a catch basin Both of these storm water coller^on facilites
are undersized causing water to pond across the shoulder and encroach the dnve lanes Operation and
Maintenance crews regularly place advance warning signs dunng ram events and have document^ the spread
of flow reaching the centerline median in several storm events To address safety and hydroplaning concerns,
we are proposing that both curb outlets be removed and to be replaced with property sized curb inlets connected
by an 18 inch reinforced concrete pipe that will flow north into B^uitos Lagoon The approximate length of the
proposed storm dram system is 85 feet long Work is expected to occur at night to avoid traffic impacts dunng
the day
