Under the proposal, the front portion of the single family home will be used for retail/office and the rear portion of the home will continue to be used for residential purposes. The property is located on the east side of Madison Street between Carlsbad Village Drive and Oak Avenue. The project consists of the conversion of the front portion of the residential unit to retail and the addition of parking to the site. If you wish to appeal the decision of the Housing and Redevelopment Director on this matter to the Design Review Board, you must file a written appeal with the Housing and Redevelopment Department within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this decision/notice. Appeal forms are available at the Housing and Redevelopment Department office located at 2965 Roosevelt Street, Suite B. If you have any questions regarding this permit, please contact Debbie Fountain in the Housing and Redevelopment Department office at 434-2935 or 434-2811. NOTICE IS HEREBY ALSO GIVEN that the Planning Department has determined that the environmental effects of the project described above are exempt under CEQA, Section 1 5303, Class 3, as a conversion to a small structure. Appropriate documentation will be filed by the City of Carlsbad's Planning Department.
