I am in receipt of a letter informing me that I am not in compliance
with code regarding vehicle parking. Specifically, that my ski boat
is parked in my driveway and not on the side of the house.
Honestly, I would love to park the boat on the side of the house,
but it will not fit. I have included both photographs and a drawing
along with the text to illustrate this point.
The property at 4870 Sevilla Way is a split level single family
home with a grassy fiont yard and a large driveway.
Facing fkom the street, the concrete space on the left side of the
house would be ideal for boat parking but it is too short by over a
foot. The gas meter also takes an additional foot of space.
The only other possible space to use would be the area on the right
side of the house. The area contains a berm as the neighbors plot
is elevated and is unpaved. Avaliable spaace measures seven and a
half feet from chimney to berm. The boat requires eight feet with
no room on either side. If I was to undertake re-engineering this
space for boat storage the berm would have to be redesigned and
another driveway would need to be built. Wouldn’t there be code
problems in that process? ’
I purchased this boat this summer and have parked it in my
driveway clear of the sidewalk and as inconspicous as possible
during this time. My neighbor has a boat which has been parked in
his driveway for years without complaint. Certainly a drive
through Laguna Rivera would reveal several boats similarly
