STATUS OF EIGHT FOOT HIGH CRIBWALL AND FILL
IN BACKYARD OF 2740 ARGONAUTA STREET
Dear Ron:
The above mentioned cribwall and associated fill were constructed without
the benefit of either a building permit for the cribwall or approved grading
plans and grading permit for the grading.
As far as the grading is concerned, the backfill placed is in violation of
the City's grading ordinance, SECTION 11.060.030(7), more than one
hundred cubic yards of material per each eight thousand square feet of
area graded have been moved; and SECTION 11.060.030(8A), the fm
exceeds three feet in verticle height. Because of these violations, the
Engineering Department has caused a "Notice of Grading Violation" to be
filed against your property.
In order to have this "Notice of Grading Violation" cleared, you will need
to hire a Civil Engineer and a Soils Engineer to prepare a grading plan
and a soils report addressing: 1) the extent and the stability of the
existing work that has been done, and 2) the lowering of the cribwall to
the Planning Department's maximum height of six feet and any required
changes in grading and drainage.
This grading plan package will need to be submitted with plan check fees
for the review and approval of the City Engineer. After approval of the
plan, double grading permit fees will need to be paid.
