Holzmiller, Planning Director City of Carlsbad 2075 Las Palmas Drive Carlsbad, California 92009 RE: Mr. and Mrs. Steven Weiss-Administrative Variance Number 88-7 Dear Mr. Holzmiller: This law office has been retained by Mr. and Mrs. Steven Weiss regarding the above-referenced administrative variance, and specifically my clients' request that the City approve an administrative variance to allow an increase of height to seven feet on a 27 foot portion of a side yard fence located at Mr. and Mrs. Weiss' residence of 3554 Sitio Baya. In this regard, my clients are in receipt of a letter dated August 31, 1988 from your office denying their request for such an administrative variance. The letter notes that an appeal to the Planning Commission can be tendered within ten days after receipt of the letter. Even though the letter was dated August 31, 1988, the postmark on the envelope in which the letter was sent was dated September 6, 1988 and, in actuality, my clients received the letter on September 8, 1988. Thus, this appeal is being filed in a timely manner. The purpose of this letter is to inform that my clients wish to appeal your decision to the Planning Commission.
