RE: Case File AV 92-02
sirs:
Please be advised that I object to the granting of the requested variance.
Although the property in question is not within eye-sight of my property, it is within my
neighborhood. If this variance is granted, a precedent would then be set to approve other similar
variances if submitted for approval. This situation, taken in total, would be a definite detriment
to the neighborhood.
A drive through of my immediate neighborhood indicates that there are at least a half dozen
other similar conditions. Whether variances have already been granted for these I do not know.
If not, then I can only assume the property owners are allowing a condition in violation of city
ordinance to exist. These conditions are:
4794 Hillside - RV parked on property
1889 Valencia - Boat continuously parked in street. Further, branches of a tree
in the front yard block the sidewalk making unencumbered and safe use of it impossible. To
walk pass this property one must duck under the branches or step out into the street.
4850 Alondra - RV parked on property
4802 Refugio - RV parked on property
204 1 Cordoba - Boat parked on property
49 18 Neblina - Boat parked on property
I can not in good conscience approve the requested variance and then disapprove other similar
submitted variances. As stated, if all of the above apparent violations of city ordinances become
approved, the look of the neighborhood will be severely affected to its detriment.

Property owners should make themselves fully aware of the applicable city codes (and deed
restrictions) with respect to parking of an RV or boat prior to obtaining the item. If they can
not park the item per established guidelines, then they should consider the cost and accessibility
of off-site parking into their decision to obtain the item. They should not request that the other
property owners in the neighborhood pay for their lack of properly informing themselves
beforehand.
Sincerely,
