Apply for a Business License at one of our cashier stations, and they will route your request to the appropriate City Divisions/Departments. 2. Complete the attached information sheet; and submit a letter and simple plot plan to the Planning Division at 1635 Faraday Avenue, Carlsbad. Your letter and plot plan should contain the information specified below under Submittal Requirements. 3. Generally, within seven days of receipt of your letter, staff will notify you of the decision to approve or deny your request. ~t may be possible to approve your request immediately. 4. Upon approval, Planning Division staff will sign off your business license application when we receive it from the Finance Department. If applicable, you should also submit applications for electrical or other required permits to the Building and Code Enforcement Division. You may also be required to obtain a permit from the Health Department. P-19 Page 1 of 2 Revised 07/10 'he.\14~ Orl..J~ Food Cart at Agua Hedionda Lagoon, Discovery Center 1580 Cannon Road, Carlsbad CA 92008 Submittal Requirements: The location of the cart will be between two existing 22' round planter mounds. The area between the planters will be sectioned off using rope and existing rope poles. The area between the mounds is 25 feet wide by 27 feet long. The size of the cart canopy is 13' x 13' leaving a 12' x 14' area for three bistro tables with chairs directly in front of cart There is an existing cross walk leading from the Discovery Center front entrance to the first planter mound. The utility hookups needed will be electrical only. Please see photos included. The products to be offered on the menu will be: coffee, juices, espresso drinks, blended frozen drinks, packaged sandwiches', hotdogs, soups, baked potatoes, packaged salads, fresh fruit, pastries, packaged snacks, popcorn, bottled and canned beverages and frozen novelties. Preparation consists of steaming hotdogs & buns in NSF approved appliance and heating prepackaged food also blending beverages. Design Guidelines: This coffee cart will be an accessory to the Discovery Center visitor conveniences. The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation (AHLF) is looking for additional ways to raise revenue as well as increase the patronage to the Discovery Center. Having the coffee cart with snacks and beverages will benefit the visitors by offering a nice place to GO me and enjoy the beauty of the lagoon. The location of the coffee cart will not be reducing any parking or interfere with the vehicle or pedestrian circulation. There will be no need to remove any landscaping for the cart. In addition, the public street right-of-way is greater than 60 feet away. The sign for the cart will meet all requirements, but has not been designed yet The sketch of the cart includes proposed size and location of sign request As for the restrooms, since the coffee cart will be open when the Discovery Center is open, we will offer restrooms for both employees as well as patrons. The cart or kiosk is an accessory use to an existing principal use on the property. 2. Carts and Kiosks are to be used for the incidental sale of packaged food and beverages only. No on- site preparation of food is allowed (including hotdogs). The sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited. 3. The location of the cart or kiosk shall be located as per Exhibits "A"-"C", dated November 4, 2013. 4. The cart or kiosk shall not function as a drive-thru business and shall not be located in areas that: a. reduce the number of required parking spaces; b. interfere with vehicle or pedestrian circulation; c. present a traffic hazard; d. result in the removal of mature landscaping; or e. are located closer than fifty (50) feet from any public right-of-way. 5. Signs shall be attached to the cart and shall not exceed a cumulative total of nine (9) square feet in area (including canopy, awning and umbrella signs, etc., but not including small menu signs). No one sign shall exceed a maximum of six (6) square feet. The size of the signs shall be in scale with the size and mass of the cart of kiosk. No off-site advertising or signs shall be permitted. No signs shall be oriented to face Cannon Road. The signage depicted on the approved exhibits are conceptual only.
