Project Title: Discovery Center Parking Area Solar Photovoltaic System
Project Description
The proposed project consists of a 6 kW solar photovoltaic system and associated support structure. The
solar array will be approximately 21' long x 22' wide and will be installed on a raised canopy with a
height of approximately 9'-7". The canopy will consist oftwo concrete foundations and aluminum
support structure. Drawing v.01 has been included with the application documents to provide
additional dimensions and details on the structure. The array will be located in the asphalt area between
the entrance and exit drive aisles in front of the Discovery Center as shown in the revised site plan. The
entire photovoltaic system will be provided by the SDG&E Sustainable Communities Program under an
agreement with the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation.
The photovoltaic system will be used by the Lagoon Foundation in the Environmental Stewardship Field
Trip Series. Curriculum will be developed based on Common Core State standards this spring adding to
our award winning program. The sustainable practices and solar power will be additional valued assets
for the dynamic teaching hub.
