We would like to submit for your consideration a Consistency Determination for our Remote Mobile
Unit (11RMU") program at Carlsbad Premium Outlets. We would like the 20' set back from storefronts
reduced to 10' as existing, otherwise, we could not have a program at all. We hope the interpretation of
this 20' rule can be addressed, as we have two general sizes of carts & kiosks, 7 x 5, and 10 x 12.
Our center's parking ratio is higher than the originally approved parking ratio of 1:200. Due to the actual
total building square footage being less than the originally approved size, this has positively affected our
parking ratio. The center was approved for 300,000 square feet of leasable area with it currently being
288,693 square feet. This places the parking ratio at 1:192 and more parking than what has been
required. Our parking ratio is well under-parked due to the loss of Bellefleur Restaurant in 2014
(replaced by Under Armour-an outlet store), additionally making the demand for parking less. The
Center was approved for 13 total pushcarts or kiosks, and we respectfully submit that four (4) of the
slightly larger size kiosks (3-10' x 12' and 1-10' x 15') and nine (9) of the 7' x 5' carts do not
significantly affect our parking ratio.
The separation from the storefronts has been called out at 20'. We respectfully request that this be
reconsidered to be 10' on each side. We have provided a map (See Attachments)) with carts and kiosks
identified. Also included is a map showing various widths of walkways through the center that allows
pedestrian movement on each side; the smallest being 37' in front of Nike, and the largest being the two
existing fountains (up to 60').
The appearance of the carts and kiosks are carefully controlled. We've attached a rendering of both a
cart and a kiosk that goes through our stringent architectural review committee to keep it custom
designed to suit the individual kiosk, but that blend architecturally with the center (See Attachments).
The nine (9) pushcarts all match in style and color.

The carts and kiosks are strategically placed around the existing palm trees or fountains, so they do not
negatively impact the walking paths anyway. RMUs house smaller tenants and fill a niche market that
not all of our national in-line store brands can fill.
