PROJECT NAME: DeYoung Pool

Please describe fully the proposed project by application type. Include any details

You may also include any background information and supporting statements regarding
the reasons for, or appropriateness of, the application. Use an addendum sheet if
necessary.
Description/Explanation:
The proposed project involves a request for a minor coastal development
permit to allow installation of an in-ground shotcrete swimming pool/spa
within the back yard of an existing single family residence located at 2411
Buena Vista Circle. The swimming pool/spa will approximate 16-feet wide by
40-feet long, and have a maximum depth of 5-feet.
The pool will be located at the approximate 40-foot elevation, and will be
; situated near the edge of the coastal bluff, within the property of the applicant.
The pool will be constructed approximately 92 feet from the rear yard line,
some 80 feet from the nearest Buena Vista Lagoon wetlands. The bluff is
presently vegetated with largely disturbed, ornamental vegetation.
The proposed pool/spa is consistent with other similar improvements in rear
yards of single family homes in the area, and across the lagoon.
The building department is concurrently processing pool improvement plans.

Development Permit issued by the City of Carlsbad.

A. Estimated Cost of Development:
Development costing 560,000 or more does not qualify as a Minor Coastal
Development Permit. The Planning Director shall make the final determination
regarding a project's cost of development.
The primary basis for determining cost of development will be the application of
dollar costs per square foot for different types of residential construction. These
costs are set by the international Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) and
are applied throughout San Diego County.
