Include any details necessary to adequately explain the scope and/or operation of the proposed project. You may also include any background information and supporting statements regarding the reasons for, or appropriateness of, the application. Use an addendum sheet if necessary. Description/Explanation: Proposed by this application is the installation and operation of an unmanned, unoccupied wireless telecommunications facility within the existing Grand Palisades Resort building located at 5805 Armada Drive in Carlsbad, California. This wireless telecommunications facility is comprised of receiving/transmitting antennas, telecommunication signal processing equipment, and appurtenant utility and antenna cable connections. All required elements of the installation will be located within the extents of the current building, and thereby will ensure the'greatest possible integration of the facility into the neighborhood. To be located in the architectural turret on the north-most part of the building, antennas for this project will consist of eight (8) panel type antennas split into two (2) coverage sectors, north and west, with each sector having four (4) antennas. The panel antennas used in this application are approximately one-foot wide, two-feet tall, and six-inches deep. All antennas will be concealed behind the exterior face of the turret wall by a fiberglass screen mounted flush with the existing wall. The screen that the antennas are to be mounted behind will be painted and textured to match the existing exterior stucco finish. All telecommunication equipment required for this facility will be enclosed in a part of an existing storage room within the underground parking facility. Coaxial cable connections to the antennas from the equipment room will be located internally through the building to the roof. Storage space lost to the resort by the development of the equipment area will be recovered by constructing a new storage area in currently unutilized space in the parking garage. The purpose of the proposed facility is to provide cellular coverage to Verizon Wireless users in the new business park around Armada Road and south towards Interstate Highway No. 5.
