NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Minor Coastal Development Permit
COMPLETE DATE: February 5, 1998
DESCRIPTION: Proposed bluff face improvements consisting of wooden deck areas
associated with an existing residential blufftop structure. The deck area proposal does not
meet the "stringline" criteria for development on coastal bluffs, therefore, the project can
not be approved by the City. Project denial will require the site to be modified to be in
compliance with all applicable regulations.
LOCATION: This project is within the City of Carlsbad's Coastal Zone at: 2643 Ocean Street
within the Appeal jurisdiction of the Coastal Commission.
ASSESSOR'S PARCEL NUMBER: 203-140-09
APPLICANT: JOAN RUSSELL
No formal public hearing is required for this application because (1) the proposed development
costs $60,000 or less; (2) no other discretionary approvals are required; and (3) there will be no
adverse impacts on coastal resources or public access to the shoreline or coast.
Be advised that a public hearing will only be held for this proposal upon the receipt by the
City of a written request for a public hearing within fifteen (15) working days of the date of
this notice, or hy March 10, 1998. Failure to request a hearing or provide written comments
within the fifteen (15) working day timeframe may result in loss of the ability to appeal to the
Coastal Commission any action taken by the City on this Minor Coastal Development Permit
Application.
The Planning Director will DENY this application fifteen (15) working days after the date
of this notice if no public hearing is requested.
