Please be aware that ARC approvals do not supersede City Building Codes. You should contact the City Planning Department to determine what, if any, permits may be required. The City of Carlsbad has indicated that the balcony addition will require a permit. When the balcony addition is permitted by the City the applicant must provide a copy of the permit received from the City of Carlsbad to the ARC. During the approval process, the Association may require that its Architect, landscape consultant, attorney, contractor, etc., review the proposed plans.
