Subject: Paleontological Monitoring of the Grading of the Ocean Bluff Tract,
PT-93-09, Carlsbad, San Diego County, California.
This is to certify to the City of Carlsbad that John Minch and Associates, Inc. (JMA) has been
retained by Catellus Residential Construction to oversee the grading operations and any mitigation
of paleontological resources required for the Ocean Bluff Tract, PT-93-09, City of Carlsbad, San
Diego County, California. I have reviewed the site and the site literature and have determined that
the Grading Operations can proceed without adverse affect on the paleontological resources of the
area. Work will be conducted in a manner which conforms to accepted City paleontological
guidelines and are in accordance with the approved Environmental Impact of the Specific Plan for
the project.
I am a fully qualified paleontologist. I have a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of
California with a specialization in paleontology and stratigraphy. I am on the Orange County EMA
list of qualified Paleontologists and is a registered geologist in the state of California and certified
as qualified to conduct paleontological investigations.
