HomeMy WebLinkAboutCT 91-05; La Costa Fairway Villas; Tentative Map (CT) (8)RE: To the Planning Commision: The proposal to erect structures, banking our driveway and going up the maximum 35 feet is unacceptable and is causing us much concern and anger. Such changes will disrupt our view and sunlight, along with the financial burden of the depreciation of our homes. Also, the fact that our complex is built on a hill with a 10 foot drop to the proposed new building site defies common sense. Being lower than ours, it could be designed to allow the new structure to accomodate its new owners without damaging the present home owners. As presently planned, this new construction would be claustrophobic, depress- ing, as well as changing the environment and temper- ature within our grounds and homes. Furthermore, the increase in population and traffic on Gibraltar Street is certainly the last thing this neighborhood needs. It is already very densely populated, with a large number of apartments and condos . Accident and crime rates in the La Costa area are extremely high in relationship with other streets of the same size. As taxpayers and home owners in the city of Carlsbad, we have the same rights as others to quality of life and living. The financial benefits of others should not be at our expnse. A compromise on building one- or two-story units could be made on the two units in question. This would still allow the builder the same benefits as us in having sunlight and an unobstructed view. Such a compromise would prevent the cave-like atmosphere they propose to subject us to with the present building plans, would allow all of us to live in this beautiful scenic area of Carlsbad and enjoy the quality of life it brings from it. Beauty, instead of turning our homes into citys that stack buildings tightly together, and the only view you get is the wall next to you!
