Dear Mr. and Mrs. McQuade:
In response to your letter of February 17, 1995, be advised that staff is in fact
reviewing the items you addressed during your recent meeting with me, and be
assured you will be receiving their response as soon as it is available.
In that regard, your letter indicated you felt it was inappropriate for me to have staff in
attendance during our recent meeting, however, I must advise you that it is my policy
to have staff attend all meetings with me. so that in fact they too will hear the
concerns of our citizens, and will have first hand information in order to begin to
investigate solutions to problems as they as submitted to me.
All Council Members have received a copy of your letter, and I will also ask staff to
address the parking concerns you brought forth in your letter, and to contact you
directly regarding those concerns.

Mayor Lewis:
We have been waiting for an answer from you since our meeting on February 2, 1995. The safety of our
neighborhood is very important to us and all of our neighbors. We had strongly stated that a street should be
put through from Olive to Date so that people from both streets would have an exit in case of a fire or the street
being blocked in an emergency situation. Why have you not investigated and gotten back to us as you said you
would? ------
Mayor Lewis, we asked for you to meet us at the property where the proposed Pacific Point Project is to be
built You would not From this sight, you can visibly see the change in elevation from where the proposed
house would be located compared to the elevation of our home at 306 Olive Avenue. They are raising the
elevation at least 3 feet. They may claim it's only half; but is a glass of water half empty or half full? We
have asked for this not to be elevated so that this would provide privacy to our home at 306 and to the first
floor of the home that is proposed at this site.
Mayor Lewis, we felt that asking staff to attend our meeting without our consent or our knowledge was totally
inappropriate. We feel, as taxpayers and voters of Carlsbad, we have the right to express our opinions to you.

We are concerned about parking. We ask that Pacific Point provide parking according to the Planned
Development Ordinance, which we could not get a direct answer to or copy of the Planned Development
Ordinance to say exactly what that is. We were told in the meeting that each home provides an 8.5 X 20 foot
space, according to Gary. We looked at the plans and fail to see where space is provided at each home.
The proposed size of the lots are not compatible with the neighborhood. The lot sizes are approximately 40%
smaller than any other single family housing in the area.

life we wish to have. We feel strongiy that this project does not add to. but subtracts from our neighborhood.
We asK, for the safety and the quality of life, that the Pacific Pointe Project be corrected before it is too late.
