3. Mitigation measures were made a condition of the approval of the project.
4. A statement of Overriding Considerations was not adopted for this project.
5. Findings were made pursuant to the provisions of CEQA.

Olivenhain Road, City of Carlsbad, San Diego County, California
A proposed 30 lot/28 unit residential subdivision with minimum
lot sizes of 10,000 sq.ft. on a 35 acre parcel located south of the
southwest corner of Rancho Santa Fe Road and Olivenhain Road.
The project includes 14.8 acre and 8.8 acre open space lots to
protect the site's wetland, oak woodland, and chaparral habitat.
The project also includes grading to accommodate a public trail, a
public cul-de-sac street, limited frontage improvements along
Rancho Santa Fe Road, and utility and drainage improvements to
support the residential development.
The City of Carlsbad has conducted an environmental review of the above described project
pursuant to the Guidelines for Implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act and
the Environmental Protection Ordinance of the City of Carlsbad. As a result of said review, a
Negative Declaration (declaration that the project will not have a significant impact on the
environment) is hereby issued for the subject project. Justification for this action is on file in the
Planning Department.
A copy of the Negative Declaration with supportive documents is on file in the Planning
Department, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad, California 92009. Comments from the public are
invited. Please submit comments in writing to the Planning Department within 30 days of date
of issuance. If you have any questions, please call Jeff Gibson in the Planning Department at

Planning Commission of the City of Carlsbad will hold a public hearing at the Council

office of the County Recorder of San Diego County, on June

Those persons wishing to speak on this proposal are cordially invited to attend the
public hearing. Copies of the staff report will be available on and after August 13, 1998.
