RE: Thompson/Tabata Project
Dear Ms. Deaver:
Thank you for contacting me earlier today regarding the Thompson/Tabata project
located west of Aviara Parkway and south of Poinsettia Lane in the City of Carlsbad.
NCTD previously requested that the project be responsible for upgrades at two future bus
stop locations, one on the eastbound side of Poinsettia Lane, 60 feet east of "A" Street
and one on the westbound side of Poinsettia Lane, 60 feet west of "A" Street. Although
it is likely that a bus route will one day serve these stops, a route such as this is a low
priority in the District's FY 2004-2006 Short Range Transit Plan.
Given the maintenance issues and costs associated with the installation of facilities that
will not be used for a while, at this time I would like to rescind our original request, and
now ask that the developer only be required to pour concrete pads (large enough to
accommodate the installation of a bench) at the bus stop locations mentioned above. I
have enclosed a diagram to assist with the design of the bus stop. When a bus route is
implemented in this area in the future, the District will install the signage and any
facilities that are desired.
