Subject: Thompson-Tabata Development
Dear Carlsbad City Council,
Do not approve the extension of Alyssum Road into the future development of
Thompson-Tabata homes. Standard Pacific has not requested an extension as a
necessary entrance into this development. Your city planners have
disregarded all public input regarding the reasonable layout of this
development and keeping the closure of Alyssym Road in place. Their
reasoning of "more access" is shown to be false by the lack of two entrances
into Aviara developments. The extension of Alyssym is unnecessary.
The original plan of Standard Pacific for this development, with multi-family
units on the north side of Poinsettia Lane adjacent to the established
multi-family units of Las Playas must have made too much sense for the
planners. Safety of children walking to school, concept of like housing, and
integrity of the Vista Pacifica/Las Playas communities are jeopardized by the
plan proposed by your own department as last reviewed in public hearing.
Please listen to the community. Many of us are original homeowners in Vista
Pacifica who have resisted renting our houses or making a profit and moving
to Encinitas or elsewhere because we love our neighborhood and wish to keep
its quality and safety for many years to come!
Sincerely,
Teodomiro and Luciann Borja
